During the holiday season, our MidwestHR 180 Initiative team organized a successful donation event for Almost Home Kids in Naperville, IL. For the month of December, our Giving Tree was out in the lobby with ornaments suggesting items to collect. This year, the MidwestHR staff, along with a few clients and friends, donated about 300 items – including many toys, household products, and gift cards to Almost Home Kids to replenish their supply!
Almost Home Kids is a transitional house for children who have been released from the hospital, but are waiting for their homes to be safely equipped for their medical needs. It provides a comfortable place for specialized treatment while the child’s caretakers are trained and their homes are renovated to service new equipment. During their three-month admittance, children are continually developing and improving their mobility and function. The physical therapists on staff help their patients through exercise, playtime, and using assistive devises to educate the children amidst their restricted capabilities.
This event was a great way for all of our staff members to get involved and make a difference in the lives of those in need. We truly value giving back to our community and are always seeking new opportunities to help. We are motivated to continue volunteering and have planned to bolster our projects for 2017!
